Why don’t we apply socialism to our children’s classrooms? There are children who study hard for A’s and there are some who never open a book, for the “greater good” of these children lets just average there grades together at the end of the year so everyone gets the same score. After a few years of this I bet the children who tried hard for good grades will begin to falter in their dedication to studying because they are only benefiting those who didn’t study. This is socialism in application.

During his day Karl Marx was asked to explain the difference between communism and slavery …he could not. FDR applied socialistic programs to help get the American people on its feet after the great depression. It has snowballed out of control ever since. Once the government has power like that it will never give it back to the people not with out some sort of revolution. Welfare, social security, bailouts,nationalizing healthcare these are all socialistic programs. Power corrupts.

mkay… the so called “second depression” started when hoover was in office not FDR. FDR was the one that dug us out with his new deal plan. But Yes if the car company got in that bad of shape in the first place and needed constant bailouts then yea, in the situation where we’re trying to avoid another depression i think we should take the safe road and let the gov help a bit

When you start with a car price of $2400(union costs), Its hard to compete.
Obama is making sure his union buddies get paid off in these surgical restructuring deals.
He is guaranteeing a long painful and inevitable death of the auto industry.
But this will allow Obama to get the union vote till their eventual demise.

There were actually 2 depressions in that era the first on was over quickly because the govt stayed out and the free market took care of it.
The second one was royally hosed by FDR. Because of his intervention, the Depression took 16+ years to recover from..
do you honestly believe the govt knows better how to sell cars than people who have been in the industry for a lifetime.
