“the whole point of the constitution is to make sure that the people are free and a democracy runs the country” I would suggest from my limited knowledge that just based on that statement, you know even less than I do about this country. The founding fathers were very opposed to the “democracy” of which you speak.I would agree that many like Thomas Jefferson valued personal liberties over big government, but their installation of the electoral college clearly outlines their views on “democracy”.
