Haha I love Eddie Izzard. And I like Jimmy Carr a lot, too.

When he was talking about the different categories of jokes (political, surreal,…) it reminded ma very much of a part from Cyrano De Bergerac where he suggests different categories of humourous insults.

I’d have to disagree too, Padric. While Bill didn’t have a laugh out loud style , he never failed to shake an audience to their core. His act sticks with you long after you’ve heard it.

On page 248 of The Naked Jape, Carr writes:

“Bill Hicks was one of the most celebrated recent exponents of loud, impassioned political stand-up. When Hicks got it right, when he resisted the cheap shock tactics and hit his evangelical peak, it was awesome. By allowing you to glimpse the depth of his heartfelt rage he added real texture to his jokes. But the truth is that even Hicks missed his mark a lot of the time, resulting in an act that was neither funny nor moving.”
