I feel a good comedian is one that can work with any crowd. Sure they might not hit a home run with every demographic, but as long as nobody feels alienated in the end and had a good time they did a good job.

they shouldn’t, but at the same time, many comedians realize that no matter how good they may be, the people who watch them are gonna be the same over and over, so they kind of have to cater to that audience.

White comedians do do the same thing (like the whole redneck thing) but I find that comedians that only limit their material to one topic to not be very good. On last comic standing they had one comedian that only used material that was about his race. I thought he was pretty good, but by the 3rd or 4th time he was on stage he was still doing racial jokes and even repeated a couple of jokes. I okay with having material relating to other demographics but they shouldnt limit themselves to only one
