George Carlin - Archive Interview Part 1 of 7
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
One of the few people I really wanted to meet, it was devastating that day I looked at the news headlines.

Comedians are funnier when they are dead. Dunno why that is. Irony I suppose. People should mention this guy when they talk about Bill Hicks. He was there first.

Rest in peace man. you rock

It’s an interview. What do you expect?
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
My mom almost didn’t want to tell me, she knew it would be crushing.
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm

I have never been so glued to a YouTube video before. I believe anyone, whether they are a fan of George Carlin or not, should sit down and listen to this interview. Things like this can really truly teach us something.

I’m like him in many ways, but I love his mentality more than anything.
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
This explains why he was an atheist… Hopefully he was wrong :p
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
This is a very interesting interview but I can’t help but think about his last bit about “People are fucking boring” when watching this. haha

Carlin gives Bruce the credit he’s due on many occasions … to bad Bruce snapped and at the end stopped being funny…
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
he is very brilliant, but i just noticed that he is very much an interesting old man who likes to tell stories of his life.

it wasn’t until i started watching george carlin did i understand the difference between being religious, and being spiritual. being spiritual means you believe in a higher power but you explore his creations and question reality. being religious means you follow a set of interpratations of what you think is god, and you fear straying outside those “divine boundaries”. george carlin taught me that if god is really there, he would want us to prgress and advance, not remain narrow minded

Dear BigG
I agree with you I rememeber as a real young kid contemplating some of his ideas and then being blown away that someone else had not only noticed the same things but could beautifully articulate them. I think that tons of people think these things he was just in the right place at the right time with the right combination of skills. If millions of us didn’t think the same way he would have flopped. He’s special because he was first and best to give a voice to these common ideas.

So he died,.. What does that prove? Everyone dies. He was actually lucky enough to die at an old age. That’s the problem with he whole church thing. A guy is allowed to blather on for an hour and say things without being challenged or questioned. The pastor has absolute control over people’s thoughts and attention. Was the comment framed as a joke, and did the whole congregation mindlessly laugh at his tasteless humour?
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
Many people think that they have the same views while his are much deeper and have more thought to them. I would never try to compare myself to him.
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
many people have his same views he was just one of the lucky few that got 2 where he is
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
what was the song
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
How about this, I just thought of it right now…. hmm hmmm, “Philosophy answers questions for knowledge. Religion answers questions for fear and control.”
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
wow I would have felt the same as you. I would have put the preachers ass on the spot and say I thought judging was for god ONLY lol
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
How about answers that should never be questioned. Hey, I heard a preacher once say “God hates all liberals” and in the same sermon, “God loves Chick’file because they close on Sunday”. I enjoyed the work of Carlin, even though I am a church going Catholic. I am so not offended by his stand-up.

You can say what you want to about this man. Even if you don’t agree with his views on religion or political affiliation, he was a pure comedic genius and in any interview seemed like a genuine person. George, you will be missed and regardless of where you are you made a lot of people laugh and made a lot of lasting impressions.

“Philosophy is questions that may never be answered.
Religion is answers that may never be questioned.”
